Shooting off rounds of megapixels and traveling, near and far, is how this design engineer makes the most of his personal time. Some of his favorite pictures he's captured have materialized from scratching around the underbelly of the Portland area under the auspice of a full moon. He believes we're surrounded by beauty in our day to day life and photography brings attention to these often overlooked gems.

Alex Close |
 |
Alex Close is a gnarbuckling native of Oregon. After spending his formative years in Portland and Corvallis he traded in his poncho and rain fly for some powder skis and sunscreen and moved south to sunny Lake Tahoe, Calif. He used the dramatic Sierra as a backdrop to hone his skills as a writer, photographer, hiker, skier, sailor and general mountain man before heeding the call of the Great Northwest and moving back to his home state in search of greener pastures. He currently works as a teacher in Portland between weekend adventures to reclaim his homeland.
